Week 5

What do think about Wikis? Would you be able to use it in your own classroom?
I don't like the Wiki, anyone could get on and post a comment. It is not a creditable site.

Do you believe that learning by conversing in learning communities can be more effective than traditional instruction? What evidence would we need to confirm (or reject) that belief?
Yes, I like the learning communities. Having people to bounce ideas off of and ask questions is a nice thing to be able to do. People also learn from teaching so this may help others learn from helping others.

Do you think that students have different learning styles because of their personality types? According to the test that you have just done, do you think it will help you know your students better? How?
Yes, having different personality types can have different learning styles. Yes, knowing the personality type of a child will help in teaching them.

Spreadsheets

After using Spreadsheet creating a gradebook and a material aid, what do you think about Spreadsheet? Is it useful? Would you use it in your classroom?

I think spreadsheets are a an easy useful tool that make things easier. Yes, I would use a spreadsheet in my classroom because it would be easy to give my students a copy of there grades so that they could be able to see what they need to work towards.

As a teacher, why do we use Spreadsheet? What is the advantage of a Spreadsheet over a calculator? According to the textbook, it mentions the three primary functions of Spreadsheets. What do you think about them? Can you think of something else?

We use spreadsheets to keep things organized and in order. Using a spreadsheet you can easily see what you have calculated, seeing mistakes would be easier also. I think the 3 functions cover everything, but you may need to add to have a back-up either saved on a jump-drive or have a hard paper copy.

Inspiration

I like the Inspiration program for the simple fact of organization. I believe it would be useful when trying to explain things in the classroom for certain subjects. It also helps with computer skills. What interested me were the diagrams and how they allowed you to go back later and put them together. I think most writing activities would benefit from this program, especially essays and presentations. Having the ability to make notes and then go back and link them together is a good resource. A blog would be a beneficial way to have a peer review and not use the critical class time. Placing the students into groups and having them review a peers work would be beneficial to them as well as the other student.

Week 2

Although I am not a huge fan of the blog I do see the how it could be useful. Using blogs can be useful in many ways such as if you had a question after class it would be an easy way to ask your teacher or classmate. Getting responses from classmates is a way to ensure you see all aspects of the assignment and are not just one sided. I don't think blogs are a waste of time, they are useful. Computers are everywhere, and almost everyone has access, either at home, school, or at the local library. It may take some time to learn how to blog, but in the end it will be easier.

About Me

My name is Monnie. I am from Bonham Texas. I attended Bonham High School and graduated in 2004. I am now attending Texas A&M Commerce. My major is Ag Science and Technology with a teacher certification. I previously attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University as an elementary education major and decided that was not the direction I wanted to take. I then went to Grayson County College to finish my general education requirements. I chose to attend TAMUC because they were the only college within commuting distance that offered any kind of agriculture majors.
